Read it:
Peru, 1990 to 2026. A president's intelligence adviser films the congressmen, judges and television owners he pays, and when one tape airs in September 2000 the government falls within weeks. Then a Brazilian builder confesses to bribing its way through Peruvian public works, former presidents follow one another into a small prison outside Lima, and Callao judges are caught on wiretaps. Beneath them grow larger trades: coca in the Apurímac valleys, gold from Amazon reserves and Andean tunnels sold to refiners abroad, and extortion charging bus drivers a daily fee. Between 2024 and 2026, much of the machinery that prosecuted the powerful is taken apart. Covers Vladimiro Montesinos and the National Intelligence Service, Alberto Fujimori, Alejandro Toledo and Odebrecht, Fernando Zevallos and Aero Continente, and the NTR Metals gold traders.
