Mike Sinyard reaches junior college needing remedial reading, remedial math and remedial English, and calls the classes bonehead. Michael Rubin is failing in suburban Philadelphia while running a ski shop staffed by adults. Michael Kirban is assessed in high school and sorted into a room the students call romper room. Two are never tested at all; the third gets a name and a placement, and none is taught to read differently. Between them they build a bicycle company, a sports merchandise business and a coconut water brand. The question is not what they had. It is what the school was measuring, and what it did with the answer.
