Read it:
Michigan and Ohio, 1863 to 1927. A farmer's son who hated farming takes a gasoline engine, a single stubborn model, and a four-story factory in Highland Park, and rearranges the sequence in which work reaches a man's hands. The car gets cheaper every year for nineteen years. The work gets worse at the same rate, until in January 1914 Henry Ford doubles the wage to hold the workforce he has driven off, and a business decision is received as charity. Beside him stands Harvey Firestone, who sells the rubber the whole thing rolls on and learns that supplying Ford means being owned by him. What they build together makes the century and cannot be undone. Covers Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, Ford Motor Company, and Firestone Tire and Rubber Company.
