Read it:
Alsace, Emilia and Texas, 1881 to 1966. Ettore Bugatti builds cars in a converted dye works at Molsheim and treats the factory as a studio; Enzo Ferrari, who was never much of a driver and knew it, builds a racing team first and sells road cars to pay for it; Carroll Shelby, a Texas chicken farmer with a bad heart, takes an English chassis and an American engine and beats them both. Between them stands one problem none of them solves: a racing department consumes money a factory has to earn, and the factory exists to feed the department. It ends at Le Mans in June 1966, where an industrial corporation spends whatever it takes and finishes one, two, three. Covers Ettore Bugatti, Enzo Ferrari, Carroll Shelby, Bugatti, Ferrari, Scuderia Ferrari, and Shelby American.
