Read it:
Deutsch-Wagram, the Bronx and Maryland, 1963 to 1997. A curtain-rod manufacturer who had never made a pistol reads an army specification and decides the frame should be plastic. A necktie salesman decides a shirt is a world rather than a garment, and will not narrow a tie for the store that wants to carry it. A programmer who has never worked in a studio decides a game is a set of decisions worth making. None of the three had a product underneath the design to retreat to: the pistol, the shirt and the game were the drawing and nothing else. Each was a stranger to the trade he entered, and the strangeness is the argument. Covers Gaston Glock, Ralph Lauren, Sid Meier, Glock, Polo Fashions, and MicroProse.
